How entries are chosen

How The Random Homepage chooses entries and links.

How this directory decides what to include.

What gets an entry

Pages that explain something clearly, or are simply delightful.
Resources that are free to read.
Topics that reward curiosity: chance, machines, maps, archives and the small web.

Outside links

Links are chosen because a page illustrates a point well. A link is not an endorsement of the organisation or business behind it. Some linked pages are in other languages.

Chance and money

Essays about probability explain how games of chance work. They are not tips and do not suggest that any game can be beaten. Age limits and laws differ by country.

The random button

The "take me somewhere" button picks one of this site's own essays at random in your browser. It does not track you or send anything anywhere.

Corrections

There is no submission form. Corrections are applied when entries are revised; each page shows its filing date.
